Mountain America Credit Union Overview
Mountain America Credit Union is a credit union headquartered in Sandy, Utah, that has been serving its members since the 1930s. Initially established as a state credit union, in 2003 Mountain America decided to become a federal credit union in response to proposed taxes that would have affected credit unions in Utah.
It is now the second largest credit union in Utah and one of the largest in the United States.

- Dividend tiers based on term length
- Automatically renews as a Standard Certificate after age 27
- Can be closed during the 10-day grace period after maturity without penalty

Membership at Mountain America Credit Union is based on clear and accessible criteria. You may be eligible if you meet one of the following requirements:
- Residence: If you live in specific areas of Utah, such as Salt Lake County, Duchesne County, or certain areas of Wasatch and Uintah counties. Mountain America customer service can assist in confirming eligible areas.
- Family relationship: If you are a family member of an existing Mountain America member, including parents, children, spouses (including surviving spouses), siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, step-parents, step-children, step-siblings, or if you have an adoptive relationship, you are also eligible to join. You may also qualify if you live at the same address as a MACU member.
- Employment or volunteer affiliation: If you work for or volunteer with a Select Employer Group (SEG) or an affiliated association, you may qualify for membership at Mountain America Credit Union.
