About This Calculator

Recurring expenses can be easy to overlook when you think of them one purchase at a time. This recurring expense calculator shows how one expense adds up to an average monthly cost and an annual total. Choose a preset and edit its example values, or enter your own item, cost, and frequency. Results are estimates based on your inputs, and the calculator shows one expense at a time.

To see how an expense fits alongside your take-home pay, try the Utah Paycheck Calculator. You can also estimate recurring housing or vehicle payments with the Utah Mortgage Calculator or Auto Loan Calculator.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Choose a preset category, then select an expense. Choose Custom to enter your own item.
  2. Enter the cost each time you spend. For Gas, use the cost of one fill-up.
  3. Enter how often you spend that amount and select whether it is per day, week, month, or year.
  4. Review the average monthly cost and annual total. Change any input to update the estimate.
  5. Select Reset to restore the selected preset’s example values, or Try Another to choose a different expense.
