SoFi Bank Gets OCC Approval for Stablecoin Subsidiary

SoFi BankSoFi Bank, headquartered in Cottonwood Heights, received approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish an operating subsidiary focused on payment stablecoins.The subsidiary will be able to issue and redeem payment stablecoins, including SoFi-branded stablecoins and potentially stablecoins offered for third-party clients.

Why it matters: The approval puts a Utah-headquartered national bank directly into the developing regulated stablecoin market.

OpenReserve Bank Receives Preliminary Approval for Salt Lake City National Bank

OpenReserve Bank, National Association received preliminary conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a proposed national bank headquartered in Salt Lake City.

OpenReserve plans to offer deposit and lending services, digital-asset services, and banking-as-a-service capabilities. The company must still satisfy additional pre-opening requirements before receiving final authorization to begin operations.

FinWise Bank Data-Breach Settlement Opens for Claims

Murray-based FinWise Bank and related parties have reached a $2.8 million proposed class-action settlement over a 2024 data incident involving personal information.

Eligible individuals can submit claims for documented losses or a cash payment, along with two years of credit monitoring. Claims are due October 29, 2026, and final court approval is still pending.

Deseret First Credit Union Names Annalesa Vernon as Next CEO

Deseret First Credit UnionDeseret First Credit Union has named Annalesa Vernon as its next president and CEO, effective January 4, 2027.

Vernon currently serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer and has been the credit union’s COO since 2016. She will succeed Shane London, who plans to retire after 46 years with Deseret First.
